Little ones are playing on the floor while the parents read the Bible and discuss. The big kids are getting better at finding passages on their own. Occasionally one of them will ask what a word means, but they are listening!
⠀
We sing, we pray and then we eat!

We have created a little community and are just watching God work!
Yesterday we lost a great saint. I was a huge “f Yesterday we lost a great saint. I was a huge “fan” of Ravi’s. Known as a modern day C.S. Lewis, Ravi had a way with words that could make your heart cry and your mind be in awe and critical thinking all at the same time. His knowledge was profound. He has reached millions and is such a great loss. In my prayer time yesterday, I was begging for miraculous healing and he was already at Jesus’ feet. He won’t have a televised funeral, but the party in heaven today, I imagine, is much greater. Thank you, Ravi, for your love for Jesus, because it has changed us all.

When our kids were in brick and mortar school, we When our kids were in brick and mortar school, we realized our involvement in their spiritual development began to decrease.
Not for lack of conviction or desire, but when there’s a test on Friday, studying takes precedent to devotions. Or when there’s an early wake up call in the morning, early bedtime hindered lengthy spiritual discussions. I’m not knocking school, per se. We just realized their spiritual walk wasn’t the focus. School hours, homework, deadlines, test schedules was what dictated our lives.
⠀
One of the things I have loved see develop is our Bible and prayer time. I’m using this opportunity to teach them how to study and pray. I don’t use a curriculum, our curriculum is the Bible. We have read through Luke, many psalms and are now making our way through 1 Samuel.
⠀
I read straight from the Bible. I don’t want my kids growing up thinking they need a book other than the Bible to spend time with God. This has allowed for broader conversations too, because I don’t feel bound to completing a worksheet. I have them draw a picture about what they learned from whatever I read each day.
⠀
Today, we read about Hannah and her great faith in God as she prayed for a baby and then kept her promise to God by giving Him back Samuel.

Our marble system has been so fun this year! ⠀ E Our marble system has been so fun this year!
⠀
Each child has their own mason jar to collect marbles. This can be for answering a question right, powering through a math problem that they were struggling with, being diligent, having a great attitude as they work. Really, any reason I can think of to give them out I do!
⠀
They save these for rewards. Honestly though, no one has traded in for a reward! They love seeing their jars grow!
⠀
(This is not a discipline system, for us. I do not take marbles away. This is a reward for encouragement and keeping learning fun! ❤️)
⠀
If you don’t have marbles, plastic coins on Amazon are reasonably priced, collect rocks from outside, dried beans is cheap choice too!
⠀
Happy Homeschooling!
Homeschool Mom confession: we don’t start school Homeschool Mom confession: we don’t start school early morning every day! 😱. It’s 11:30 and we are just starting school!
⠀
We all slept in (good for immune system and stress levels). I made breakfast. I had mounds of everybodies laundry and each child put their own clothes away. (Life skills 😍).
⠀
The boys are starting Math and my oldest and youngest are doing puzzles. They’ll rotate in a while.
⠀
I explain this only because I wanted to encourage the moms who have found themselves Homeschooling this week. Please don’t expect your kids to sit at a table for hours (they don’t even do that at school). Math can be silly games shouting multiplication facts. Or fraction review can be cooking muffins. Studies show we the more senses that are used when learning the better it sticks! ⠀
You don’t have to be militant. You don’t have to “really lay down the law”. Have fun learning with your kids. See who can recite their times tables while jumping jacks without crumbling in laughter.
⠀
Connect with your kids today, mamas. ❤️❤️
